Charlie Kirk does not compare to John the Baptist

Last week, I saw a screenshot that someone posted on Facebook, I think it was a tweet. I was disgusted.

The author tried to claim that Kirk was killed for the same reason John the Baptist was killed. If you don’t remember, John the Baptist was jailed and then beheaded by Kong Herod. John’s crime? Calling out Herod for being married to his brother’s wife, Heroditas.

John was killed by a king, a politician. John did not make political remarks about Herod’s record of politics. Herod was supposed to be a moral example for those he ruled over, and that’s why he was put in prison and then killed.

Charlie Kirk was killed for political reasons, if you believe that he was killed. Yes, he was vocal about the moral decay of our country. But it was more from a political standpoint than a biblical one. Why do I make that distinction? Because he was speaking out against the leftist agenda for LGTBQLMNOP.

You may say now that Kirk and John the Baptist were killed for the same reason.

There’s a difference, and that difference is John the Baptist would not campaign for someone like Donald Trump. He would be just as vocal about Trump’s moral character as he would have Herod’s. I would go even further to say that John wouldn’t even be involved with politics at all.

The desperation of the politically motivated Christian right is disheartening and disturbing. Politics and patriotism are not components of the gospel. Who I vote for does not have any impact on my salvation.

SCOTUS overturned Roe v Wade, but the murder of the unborn still happens, but Trump claims a victory.

John the Baptist would not ignore Trump’s claim that he did need to repent of any sin because he hasn’t done anything needing to repent.

We need to stop venerating Kirk as if he is some hero of the gospel.
