So, this advertised as a spy thriller. What I will write will be a little graphic.
Premise: Chinese ambassador is killed in London and his daughter disappears. Keira Kneightly and some other male actor have to find her. Lots of personal things get in the way, blah blah blah.
I think this more of a show that attempts to normalize gay sex. We meet the male protagonist in the middle of gay sex. He is on the receiving end. That’s just the beginning. He has an ex that they spend an inordinate amount of time exploring their relationship. Lots of scenes of them naked in bed and spooning. I don’t know how this is relevant to the show. It seems more like it was done for shock value and “there are lots of gays everywhere so we will show what happens as graphically as we can within censorship guidelines”. The storyline of their romantic and disturbing and disgusting and sodomy adds nothing to the story.
Then one of the homo’s criminal contacts has lesbian bodyguards or something. They are supposed to be intimidating like two mafia goons it seems. They are not. It’s a pathetic attempt at making women macho. They are all tough looking at 120lbs. Again, another lame attempt at making women as tough as men. And homo is scared of them. He’s not afraid of government trained assassins breaking into his home but two 120lb lesbian playing tough guy goons? Oh yes, be very afraid.
I fast forward through the gay sex. There’s no interesting conversation going on. I do it hoping that the rest of the story might actually be interesting but it seems rather lame.
You may thinking “I bet you watch the lesbian sex scenes.” No. I fast forward through every sex scene in every thing I watch. It doesn’t interest me.
As an aside, Keira didn’t age well.
This show isn’t worth the hype that Netflix is trying to puff it up with. Take out the useless storylines and it could’ve been done in half as many episodes. Hollywood and the streaming services are forcing crap they call art down our throats and it bankrupt them.
