Bitcoin is the god of the alternative community. What I mean by “alternative community” is people who are trying to find ways to find an alternative means to participate in commerce while trying to do an end run around Central Banks (CBs). They don’t like the way CBs have been raping the masses of the money they earn so the owners of the CBs can get rich. They hope that bitcoin will cause the collapse of the CB network and the proletariat will be set free from their oppression.
I was forwarded a clip from the Bitcoin Conference that just ended this past weekend. In that clip, the panel discusses how they place the value of bitcoin second to time, meaning the minutes they have been allotted to live on this earth. To them, it is not an investment, it is an object that can save them, and beyond them, bitcoin can save the global economy.
Bitcoin is their god.
They place their faith and hope in bitcoin. Bitcoin will break CBs. Bitcoin will put power back into the buying power of the common man. Bitcoin can be the agreed upon currency between BRICS and those who use the USD as their base currency. Bitcoin can solve all the problems of the poor Third and Fourth World countries. Bitcoin can prevent wars over natural resources because it is an independent entity.
Bitcoin is their god.
My friend sent me a clip from this past weekend’s conference. He has placed his hope in bitcoin. I listened to that clip. The panel spoke with relative awe of bitcoin. Bitcoin changes lives. Bitcoin gives energy. Bitcoin gives hope. Bitcoin empowers. Bitcoin instills self worth. Bitcoin provides freedom. Bitcoin puts the common man on an equal playing field with the elites. Bitcoin saves.
Bitcoin is their god.
There is a myriad of podcasts, blog sites and conferences that extoll the magnificence of bitcoin. The advocates of bitcoin spread their gospel of how bitcoin can enrich individual lives. They speak about people’s bitcoin conversion experiences with awe and wonder, and joy. They share their emotional rush that bitcoin provided the first time they realized the weight and freedom found under bitcoin’s influence. They gush about how awesome bitcoin is and how it changed their lives and how it can change everyone’s if only they just believed.
Bitcoin is their god.
The evangelize and attempt to proselytize nonbelievers about the greatness of bitcoin. They read blogs about bitcoin. They listen to experts talk about bitcoin. They have long discussions about bitcoin with their likeminded friends. They defend bitcoin by going after bitcoin’s detractors and explaining how wrong they are about bitcoin. They lament about those who reject and resist the power of bitcoin. They mourn those who reject the freedom bitcoin provides and pronounce that the nonbelievers will regret not joining their church, sorry, I meant movement.
Bitcoin is their god.
They have placed their hope and faith in an object of man’s own invention. Bitcoin is a temporal entity. It cannot save anyone. It will purchase your way past the heavenly gates. It cannot pay for your sins. It cannot make one right before God.
Bitcoin is a false god, it is the currency of Baal, so to speak. They speak of bitcoin much in the same way a Christian would speak of Christ. If they observed a group of Christians speaking about Jesus Christ as they do about bitcoin, they would mock and call them fools. Christ provides something bitcoin never will: lasting peace, peace that is not only found in this life but extends into the eternal kingdom to come.
Don’t believe in their god but put your faith in Christ, His Word, His promises and His substitutionary death on the cross and His bodily resurrection. Repent of your sins and believe in Him, the One in whom your salvation rests.
