Bitcoin Doesn’t Exist

Bitcoin doesn’t exist. Yes, I said it. Bitcoin is not real. It sounds like I’m speaking blasphemy. I have seen bitcoin listed on exchanges with a value attached to it. I know people hoard it, hold it, trade it, use it to purchase goods and services, but it is not real. Heck, I have even bought and sold it myself, but I’m not convinced that it is real, that it exists. Simply put, I simply reject the evidence that it exists.

I can imagine bitcoiners reactions and arguments.

I see it being traded by people and the valuation fluctuate. Sure, I see all that, too. All that means is that there are a group of people who also believe that bitcoin has value and will accept it in trade based on that belief.

I listen to people pontificate on the inherent value of bitcoin beyond its monetary value. And why does that matter? They are only talking about something they believe is real and is valuable to them. They have attached other values to it so they like to expound and pontificate of this supposed value. I still reject that it exists.

There are those who polemicize on behalf of bitcoin and defend its worth. Again, so? This somehow means that bitcoin exists? Again, all this means is that bitcoin has advocates, passionate defenders of bitcoin’s value to society and commerce. I still reject that it exists.

And there are plenty of other arguments that bitcoiners will put forth that bitcoin is real. I reject them all. I can see exchanges that post the price and the graphs that measure and track the value of bitcoin. All that means is someone wrote it down so others can see it and read it. It means that others who believe can follow it. But in the end, it is still a person putting numbers on a page. That’s not evidence, it is just someone’s written product stating what they presume is real.

It is not tangible. I can’t touch it or hold it. I can save it in a wallet but it is ultimately just a string of zeroes and ones called blockchain, or whatever the official term is. They might argue that they could mint coins if they wanted and I would say it doesn’t matter. It is just a physical manifestation of their object of belief. It doesn’t make it any more real that it had before.

I could go on but it would be redundant. You may ask why am I bitcoin doesn’t exist? Because the arguments I used above are the same or similar arguments used against the belief of the God of the Bible.

People reject God because they can’t see Him but they live, act, breathe, cultivate, and enjoy His creation, the evidence of His existence.

Bitcoin’s value is only what people agree what it is. It was invented by a man as a means of ecommerce currency. If people decided that bitcoin was worth nothing and useless, it would cease to hold any value. It would become worthless, just another blip in history. Eventually, stories about would begin with “Do you remember when…”.

The evidence of God’s existence is far stronger than that of bitcoin. His Word has survived centuries with the highest accuracy of any other document from antiquities, with far more surviving manuscripts than any other writing of that time. The earth and the external universe we exist in are His creation and are far more complex than any object that man can conceive, never mind build. They are far more willing to believe it happened by chance. If I said bitcoin came about by chance, that ones and zeroes just randomly joined together to form a digital entity that was named bitcoin, I would be considered a fool and a moron.

So, I will “foolishly” say that bitcoin doesn’t exist, and I don’t care what evidence anyone presents, I will reject it.
